Last week, I stumbled across this article on frugalmom.net about turning leftover coffee into a mocha frappucino. Instead of pouring out the last bit of coffee left in the pot, you pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze it. Then, you pop the cubes out, put them in a ziploc bag and store them in your freezer. Earlier this week, I made my coffee cubes then last night I made my mocha frapp and OMG was it easy and so super yummy!! This is the original recipe, but I tweaked it a little...
Ingredients:
- 12 cubes of coffee (total of 12 ounces)
- 2 cups of milk
- 4 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- Whipped Cream
Although, I could drink the whole "4 serving" amount...I did alter it down to a 1 serving amount. I am trying to occasionally allow myself indulgences like this but still remain healthy for the most part. I used artificial sweetener rather than sugar. You could use low-fat or skim milk. I also opted out of the whipped cream on top, but did put a mini peppermint patty in it when I blended it up. This turned it into a peppermint mocha frappucino...to die for!! Just as good (if not better) than Starbucks and definitely can be made healthier and CHEAPER! Enjoy! :o)
Okay... I have a feeling this is going to be my new obsession, too! It sounds heavenly!!!
ReplyDeleteTiff, the peppermint patty is what makes it even better!! ;o)
