So, the other day I watched this necklace tutorial on Meredith's blog. I thought "how freakin' cute and creative!". Then, I thought "OMGoodness, I sooo do not have the patience to sit and cut out all those circles! I guess I'll just have to buy something like it.".
Well, yesterday while perusing around my friendly, neighborhood Family Dollar, I rolled up on this cute headband for $1.50.
The problem was that those kind of stretchy-band ones don't stay in my hair. Maybe I have an odd-shaped head...I dunno...stranger things have happened, I suppose.
Anywho, as I'm looking at this thing, Meredith's tutorial popped in my head. So, I bought it and a couple other things that I couldn't live without and left. I borrowed a hot glue gun from a friend, found an old chain that I don't use...and the rest is history. :o)
First, I cut off the band. I was left with this on the back which helped support it still. |
Then I hot glued the chain to the remaining part of the band. (This was about the time that I was laughing uncontrollably at myself for getting hot glue EVERY-dang-WHERE!!)
I am the Vanna White of cheap, inexperienced jewelry making! |
So, pardon my "end of a long day" messy hair and faded make-up...but here it is! I will probably find a longer chain and swap it out, but that was the longest one I had in my jewelry box that I don't use any more. I am absolutely IN LOVE with it...now I just have to find something to wear it with. :o)
That is awesome! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat's genius! You have a good eye to see that headband's potential.
